Full Dentures

Full dentures are constructed out of acrylic and are usually worn when people have no natural teeth remaining. A set of dentures can be made to replace your old set, or they can be constructed before your teeth are removed and inserted by a dentist.

We always aim to provide you with a great fitting set of dentures. A well-made full upper denture should have great retention or ‘suction’ on its own, and function just like a suction cap. If your denture feels loose, drops down when eating or speaking, or if you find you are using a lot of denture glue, please come and see us so we can find a better solution.

While a full lower denture usually doesn’t achieve the same suction as a full denture, we still aim for as much stability as possible. Our experienced team use advanced impression taking techniques, and correct positioning of teeth on the lower denture will ensure it is as stable as possible, making sure it works harmoniously with your tongue and the muscles in your mouth.
Ideally, full upper and lower dentures should be made together and at the same time to make sure they properly complement each other. We will make sure they function well together in all aspects of eating and speaking, significantly improving your overall facial appearance, and looking great!

At Jones Denture Clinic we use state of the art Digital Denture techniques because we truly believe this is the optimal way to create premium quality dentures which will give you the best possible outcome.

Traditional techniques used to construct dentures construction techniques are very labour intensive and require multiple appointments, but most techniques used by dental professionals who promise same day dentures or dentures in just one appointment will result in poor quality dentures.

There’s no getting around the fact that well-made dentures will require a few appointments, because there are multiple stages of denture construction. However, thanks to our new Digital Denture techniques, at Jones Denture Clinic we are able to minimise the amount of appointments, and ensure you end up with quality, well fitted dentures that meet your individual needs.

We pride ourselves on taking time with you to ensure each set of Full Dentures completely satisfies all of your denture requirements and is a true reflection of who you are as a person. At your initial consultation we encourage you to bring in any previous dentures you may have as well as photos of yourself with your natural teeth. This helps us construct debtures which are as close to your real self as possible. Our favourite cases are where we can add characteristics and flair to your dentures and not just create a perfect picket fence of teeth. We want to create the perfect set of dentures for you, not something that looks and feels inauthentic or gives you flashbacks to the set your grandparents had!

Please come and see us. We promise you will be more than impressed by what we can offer.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are usually suitable when you still have some natural teeth remaining and simply need to fill gaps and improve looks as well as function. Partial dentures can be made from a variety of materials, with Chrome Cobalt and acrylic being the two traditional types of partial dentures.

Chrome dentures use a metal frame to replace most of the acrylic on a partial denture. The key benefits of this style of denture are its strength and comfort compared to a regular acrylic style. However, it can be harder to add new teeth if you were to have another natural tooth removed and although they are rare, accidental breakages quite often cannot be repaired. In most cases Chrome partial dentures will last you a very long time.

Acrylic partial dentures are made entirely of acrylic with the exception of some hand-made stainless steel clasps which may be used to aid in the retention of the denture. Acrylic partial dentures do cost a bit less than Chrome dentures and are relatively easy to repair or add new teeth onto if you have another natural tooth extracted. However, they can feel slightly less comfortable as they need to be marginally thicker to ensure adequate strength. They also have a greater tendency towards wear and tear and can break more easily than Chrome options.

Please take advantage of our obligation-free initial consultation and come in for a chat so we can explain all your options and help you decide which is the best option for your individual needs.

Implant Dentures

Implant dentures are a great solution when you feel you need more security to take your dentures to the next level. A range of different options are available to have implants surgically placed into your top or bottom jaw so your dentures can click onto them securely. Please be aware that we need to work with a specialised dentist or prosthodontist if you wish to have Implant dentures. If you are interested in this style of dentures, our preferred method is to construct your new dentures to the best of our abilities and then we will refer you to one of our partners with the aim of converting your newly made dentures to implant supported dentures.

Relines

Dentures can begin to loosen in your mouth over time. If you are still happy with the overall look and feel of your dentures, a good option in this situation is to have them relined so they fit perfectly again. Wherever possible we complete this in one day to minimise the amount of time you are without your dentures.

Repairs and Tooth Additions

Just like your original teeth, dentures do tend to incur some wear and tear and occasionally they will break, especially if dropped, run over by a car, or chewed by the family pet. (Yes, this has happened many times because dogs love the taste of their owner’s dentures!) Thankfully, in most cases they can be repaired within a day.

Sometimes wearers of partial denture will need to have another natural tooth extracted. Thankfully most dentures can have teeth added to replace what has been removed. In most cases this is a same day procedure.

It is important that you DO NOT try and repair a broken denture yourself with superglue. This does happen frequently and almost always results in the denture not being able to be repaired correctly with new acrylic. Superglue is also toxic and shouldn’t be used on something that lives in your mouth. Please call us if your denture breaks – in most cases we will be able to repair your denture on the same day or as soon as possible.

Immediate Dentures

If you are having natural teeth removed and need new dentures, possibly for the first time, an immediate denture can be constructed so there is no time between having your teeth removed and having the denture inserted. We will work with your dentist or oral surgeon and construct your denture before your teeth are removed. We will have your denture ready for you to take to your extraction appointment and they will place the denture inside your mouth. After a few weeks of healing, you will be able to come back to us and we will make any adjustments required to ensure perfect comfort and function.

Copy Dentures

If you are quite happy with your current set of dentures but they are a little worn and you would like a new set, we can simply fabricate a new set based on your current dentures, and have your new set ready for you as soon as the next day.

Sports Mouthguards

At Jones Denture Clinic we also provide premium sports mouthguards for people of all ages, from junior sports stars to professional athletes. All mouthguards are custom made with a wide range of colours and combinations to choose from. “Boil and Bite” mouthguards available from a chemist are simply not good enough to protect your teeth from sporting injuries as they vary in thickness and will never fit as well as a truly custom-made mouthguard. Our mouthguards are made in-house by experienced dental technicians. Please call us to make an appointment.
